Choose by How You Burn
Hardwood Mix
The wood most people burn all winter.
Sugar maple and red oak with some ironwood, which is the densest wood in these hills and the one that keeps a stove going overnight. It takes a little longer to catch than birch and gives back more heat for every piece.

- 16 in
- Split
- 3 to 6 in
- Good for
- Heating all winter, overnight burns
- Full cord$385

Birch
Quick to light, bright to look at.
White and yellow birch, split and dried with the bark on. It lights fast, burns with a clean bright flame and suits fireplace inserts and stoves you light most evenings. It burns a little faster than the mix, so you go through more of it.

Sauna Split
Small and dry, for a wood-fired sauna.
Birch and maple cut to 12 inches and split small, 2 to 4 inches across, so a sauna stove comes up to heat quickly and you can feed it a piece at a time. Sold by the half cord, which lasts most households a year.

What We Don’t Sell
- Green or part-dry wood. Not at any price. It smokes, it hisses and it lines the chimney.
- Ash.It falls under the emerald ash borer rules in this part of the state, so we leave it where it grew.
- Pallets, treated lumber or building scrap. Not as firewood and not as kindling.
- Log-length loads for outdoor boilers. We only sell what we have cut, split and dried.
- Bundles for stores to resell. Our wood goes to the people who burn it.
How the wood is dried, and why we are strict about it, is on the yard page.
